419kW of solar energy in Oregon

Gresham, a city located in Oregon is hot on the heels of developing a brand new, ground mounted array of solar power and the activation should most probably be only a few days away. This is going to be the biggest one of its kind that has been made & put into the Northwest Pacific. This system of solar energy is going to be owned as well as operated by a SunEdison, one of the biggest service providers for solar energy in all of North America. This means that all the Gresham tax payers are going to get full access to this service and would not have to pay any upfront costs. The city is going to be buying all of the energy that is produced from here and this has also been mentioned in the contract.

This system is going to be able to create at least 460,000 kWh of solar energy which is more than adequate for providing electricity to around forty three homes for a whole year and this all is going to be made possible during only its 1st year of operation. The Mayor of Gresham, Shane T. Bemis said that the city was really commited to this project and this has proved that the community has chosen solar energy as a viable source of power generation. He also said that the visual display of solar energy generation being done here is one which is meant to show to the world that Gresham is also a major part of the solar energy generation industry and that they have a very strong market for various solar products.

This system was, itself, created by a partnership that was formed between REC Solar, SunEdison as well as incentives from the Energy Trust of Oregon. As of today, Gresham ranks among the top four cities in the state of Oregon as far as size is concerned. The population of this city is far more than a hundred thousand people. This system of solar energy in the town which is supposed to be providing power to over forty houses is expected to be activated and up and running latest by the 9th of February and is going to also be preceeded by a ceremony to inaugrate the new system.
