2009 was a big year for Frito-Lay — they hit the chip market by introducing the first ever biodegradable chip bag. They called it Sun Chips. They said that the bag would decompose within fourteen weeks. That means that after you’ve eaten the chips and thrown the bag out, it won’t be staying as a whole on the Earth for long. It would decompose itself and therefore enormously help the environment.

“You eat the chips, the earth eats the bag, and we all live in a much cleaner world,” said a Frito-Lay representative. It all looked good until a few weeks ago when several video bloggers started “attacking” Frito-Lay and its Sun Chips. Apparently, the self-decomposable bag is made out of such material which makes is very loud! “It’s the loudest bag in the world.” said Patrick Sandora, a video blogger who made a video about this in late 2009, which just recently became popular. Many people who comment on YouTube left comments on the video, mostly agreeing with what the blogger said. “Nobody from Frito-Lay doesn’t eat chips while watching TV, it seems,” said one of the commenters,

Frito-Lay replied to all this by announcing that they are working on developing a brand new bag which won’t make noise. “We will try to get it to the next level and it will take more invention and more creativity,” said Ms. A. Gonzalez, the Sun Chips’ maker’s representative.
