The world today is seeing a new international crisis. As time is passing by the scarce resources of the world that we rely so much on are steadily running out. These resources of oil and gas will soon run out. We rely so much on these resources for power and especially electricity. Our whole world runs on electricity and without it we’ll go back to the Stone Age. However, I believe that we still haven’t taken the proper precautions.

The prices of oil and gas are sky rocketing. Almost every other day these prices make the newspaper headlines. However, there still are people who believe that this issue is no more than a myth. The evidence is right in front of our eyes, as the prices of these scarce resources are constantly rising. Especially in these couple of years we’ve seen tremendous rise in prices, like never before.

When I say that the resources will be gone I don’t mean in the next couple of hundred years, because that’s what people think, that we still have enough reserves and they take it lightly, however it’s a happening now! In less than half a century the oil reserves will be gone, if we keep consuming at the same pace. However, this pace will not remain the same and it’s bound to increase, that means that oil is going run out even faster than that! That means that even the current generation will have to face the consequences.

So what are we going to do about this problem? Are we just going to sit and wait for the solution to come? Are we the common people going to do something to secure our future?

Well, we can start somewhere; firstly we can minimize the usage of these scarce resources, even the little things like switching off the lights when you don’t need them can make a big difference to the bigger picture. Secondly we can create more awareness about the matter, because the more people that know about this the bigger difference we can make as a global community.

These are little things; however, we can even make a bigger impact, by using renewable energy. Renewable energy is not a new term for us. For years renewable energy has been presented as an alternative form of energy. So how come it hasn’t been used on a wider scale?

Well simply because it’s quite expensive to set up. Installing these systems on houses can cost thousands of dollars. However, nowadays there are other methods of installing renewable energy, by building your own homemade solar power or wind energy system. You can produce homemade energy! It’s not that expensive either. It won’t cost you more than $200. It’s also a good investment, not only are you playing a part in the global crisis, but you’re also saving thousands of dollars every year that goes towards your electricity bills.
