Not content with simply letting the children’s market pass them by, Thames & Kosmos have recently released a new kit known as the “Fuel Cell X7” development project that allows children (or even adults, really) to make their own hydrogen fuel cell car that lets the power of water propel it from place to place.
This new kit is actually a follow-up from a previous version that received little acclaim due to the fact that it was rather more expensive and focused more on the actual science behind renewable energy vehicles rather than construction aspect itself. The new X7 kit, on the other hand, works to let people dive right in to the fuel cell world and get hands-on experience developing a hydrogen cell car while learning a bit about how the cells work in the process – and at a cheaper price than previous incarnations made possible as well.
Intended for ages 10 and up (due to some of the more complex aspects behind the car itself) this new project is an excellent springboard from Thames & Kosmos to help stimulate young learner interest in green energy and see some of the more tangible results of just what alternative energy can do rather than simply read about it in class all day. Given the growing interest in alternative and renewable energy sources this kit is a great for adults as well who are interested in learning a bit more about just how hydrogen fuel cells work (in this case a reversible fuel cell) and how they might be incorporated by major car designers in the future into more readily available vehicles.
Currently the fuel cell kit retails for $99.95 and can be ordered either online at various stores or purchased offline at select locations. This is a great gift for anyone who is green inclines and is a great way to provide a fun yet educational experience in the green energy sector.
