Ken Salazar wins solar award

The (SEIA) Solar Energy Industry Association announced on the 29th of January 2010 that the Interior Secretary, Ken Salazar had won the 2009 National Solar Energy Champion Award because of his continuous leadership towards spurring development of clean energy infrastructure, creating jobs, combating climate changes and harnessing the vast solar resources of your nation.

“In his job at the Interior Department, Salazar watches over the most efficient solar resources of the world and realises that we too have to put these domestic, clean resources that would work for the United States,” said the president of SEIA, Rhone Resch.

“Righ through his 1st year in office, he has worked together with the industry, general public and the environmental community in order to expedite construction of top of the line power plants which won’t only bring clean and efficient energy to the south west but will also help by creating a lot of jobs. We proudly name him the Solar Energy Champion of 2009. As was declared in the Bill of Solar Rights, the solar power industry has the rights for equaling public land access as well as they right to have an interconnected transmission grid of the 21st century. We are looking forward to doing business with Salazar during 2010 on such important policies.”

In March, last year, he had signed an order which made the delivery, production and development of renewable energy’s among the most important priority’s in the Interior Department. This order also asked for the creation of a task force which is going to prioritize transmissions applications which is absolutely necessary if we wish to generate clean energy in the south west of America to the solar rich population centers all over the country in order to meet the growing demands of energy.

During June last year, Salazar came together with Senator Harry Reid in order to announce fresh initiatives that are going to help bring many federal agencies together alongwith leaders from the Western states in order to designate public lands in West U.S. as important areas for the development of all utility scale solar energy, fund environment studies, quick review of industry proposals and for opening new renewable energy co-ordination offices. All of these policies are going to play a big role in the encouragement of utilityscale solar power in southwest America which is home to a few of the most efficient solar energy resources in the world.
