Oil ≠ Renewable energy

Oil ≠ Renewable energy

It is a fact that fossil fuels are destroying our planet and this is becoming more & more obvious every day. Many actors, states and corporations feel that the best way to solve this problem of ours is to resort to green sources of energy. But, there are a lot of people who feel that this plan of ridding the world of pollution & the carbon based, intensive economy is going to be ruined by international oil companies. These are the same companies which have controlled the energy market since the nineteenth century. These industrial and financial giants have the power to stop green sources of energy from coming into power and it is the job of authorities from around the world to set up measures which ensure that this does not happen.

“If oil companies do manage to get into the industry of renewable energy then this industry too wil be developed into a centralized and hierarchical structure which is against the dispersed & readily available nature which renewable sources of energy seem to have, especially solar and wind,” said Jack Reardon, an expert from the Hamline University Department of Management and Economics, Minnesota branch. He is also the author of a fresh study on this matter which is also mentioned in the latest isue of Green Economics, an International Journal. It is a popular belief that if such a trend of economic growth continues then our planet could see an increase of around 45% in it’s demand for energy by the year 2030. Naturally, this means that the emissions of CO2 are also going to go up by 45% and this would definitely be very bad for earth. Countries such as China, Brazil, India and the U.S. are expected to be at the forefront of this growth and are thus, also going to be the countries which pollute the most.

Reardon also said that if the private oil companies manage to enter this market, they may succeed in preventing the democratic green and distributed economics which would arise as long as enough funding was given to research in the efficient harnessing of wind, solar and various other renewable sources of energy. All of this is based on the analysis of monopolistic & powerful positions which these companies have taken on the world stage ever since the industrial age was upon us. This was because these giants used lobby groups & were able to infiltrate people in order to sustain their main agenda.
