The recent reports about the current supply of oil available in the Earth has caused countries all over the world to become more alarmed than ever. In today’s modern society, we live in a world that is heavily reliant on electricity and other convenient forms of public and private transportation. Concern began to rise as scientific studies attributed the use of fossil fuels as the primary source of energy used by modern societies to be the primary culprit of the degradation of the Earth’s environment. Now, the world is faced with a major crisis as the supply of the fossil fuels that power society as a whole is dwindling. Projections have been made that the supply will only be able to provide our needs for another few decades before it is completely depleted.
This grim reality has led major corporations and government agencies to fund extensive research to find alternative sources of energy that will be able to provide the needs of societies across the globe in a manner that is just as efficient as fossil fuels. The results of these research studies have led more and more organizations and agencies to look into sources of energy that are renewable.
Renewable energy has become the wave of the future for one important reason. As societies continue to modernize themselves and expand, they will need a constant supply of energy that can be tapped into for an indefinite period of time. Currently, the sources of energy being used in countries all over the world are non-renewable. This means that once they are consumed and used to generate energy, they are gone and cannot be used again for in the future. Societies now need a steady supply of energy to meet their daily needs and the only way for this need to be met is by tapping into sources of energy that can be used over and over again.
As of today, there are three types of renewable sources of energy that are currently being tapped into to meet the growing needs of societies all over the world. The first is solar energy. The sun, as we know it, is one huge ball of energy. Solar energy is harvested through the use of solar panels that convert the sunlight into usable forms of electricity and energy for consumption. Currently, solar energy is being used to provide electricity to homes and business establishments, as well as concept automobiles.
The second popular renewable source of energy is wind power. Wind is generated by shifts in the atmospheric conditions through the presence of low and high pressure zones on the Earth. Wind power is harvested through the use of massive wind turbines that are constructed in open fields that allows them to fulfill the electricity needs of the public.
The last is alternative source is hydroelectric power. This form of renewable energy taps into the energy generated by rapidly moving water located in rivers and waterfalls. While the changes in the Earth’s atmosphere may one day cause this renewable energy to eventually dry up, it will nonetheless last longer than the supply of fossil fuels and uranium deposits within the Earth.
